Bring the deep blues of the ocean into your home with the Marine Wall Hygrometer by Ocean Clock. Its rich navy dial, natural beech wood frame and delicate water droplet details make this practical humidity gauge a beautiful addition to a coastal interior.
What is a hygrometer, and why have one?
A hygrometer measures the moisture in the air, helping you understand whether your home is too dry, too humid or comfortably balanced. As humidity changes, the hand moves across the dial to show the relative humidity as a percentage.
High humidity can encourage condensation and mould, while very dry air can make a room feel uncomfortable. Being able to see the reading helps you decide when to ventilate a room or use a dehumidifier. A relative humidity level of around 40–60% is generally considered comfortable for the home. The Marine hygrometer brings this useful information into your everyday surroundings in a beautifully simple way - with no batteries, charging or screens. It measures humidity rather than telling the time, combining the appeal of a traditional dial with a practical purpose.
Hand-assembled in Ocean Clock’s workshop in Hossegor, south-west France, each hygrometer is checked and calibrated before dispatch. Its mechanical movement responds to changes in the surrounding humidity, working without batteries, wiring or an external power supply.
Hang it in a living room, bedroom, study or seaside retreat for a thoughtful finishing touch that combines everyday usefulness with coastal style. It also makes a lovely housewarming gift or an original present for someone who loves the sea.
